The Pikes Peak Road Runner's Winter Series began on Saturday January 8th. The first or four of road winter races took place at Cheyenne Mountain State Park and offered both a 5K short course and 10K long course.

Michael Weiss raced the short course with 400 other competitors. Weiss led the running field over snowy and rough terrain with lots of climbing for the first mile. As the leaders entered the shadowy single trail Michael was passed by local trail runner Daniel Castaneda.

Michi held second place for Team SRM, only 4 seconds behind Castaneda, through the finish line with a time of 19:12.
