Michael Weiss, of Lower Austria, returned to challenge the field and improve on his 2009 race time.

Weiss's race was strong, successful, and a great improvement from last year. He exited the swim after 26:44 minutes in 26 th position.
Once on the bike (his strongest discipline), Michael was able to pull up to 5 th place and post the fastest bike split, 2:07:10h. The half marathon was extremely fast and the top four men (Ospaly, McCormack, Raelert, and Vanhoenacker) held their lead, only Andreas Raelert was able to pass Michi.

Michael crossed the finish line in 6 th place, just seconds behind Bockel and five minutes from the winner, Philip Ospaly. Weiss was thrilled as he crossed the line, knowing that he was the first Austrian to finish and that the day was a great accomplishment.

"The race in St. Pölten is truly unique," Michi said upon completion. "And I'm really looking forward to the start in Carinthia [Ironman Austria 07/04/10]. I have heard a lot about the race in Klagenfurt, and I'm excited to see what's to come there. Many thanks to all the fans for supporting me today in St. P ölten.
