January 23 rd 2010. The El Pomar trail race took place today in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA. The race was the first in a series of off road running events held locally on Saturdays throughout the winter. Michael Weiss, of Lower-Austria, along with hundreds of other racers faced gusty winds and rocky, high altitude terrain as they completed the 6.4 kilometer sprint.
Michael, along with two other strong runners, separated from the main competitors field early. It wasn't until the last third of the race that Shawn Dubbs, the race winner, accelerated reaching the finish line 28 seconds ahead of Weis
Michael represents the "Ciclopia Tri Team" of Lower-Austria, and continues to train full time in Colorado Springs for his 2010 triathlon season. Currently he is focusing on his swim using innovative and advanced training methods from world renowned coaches. The 6.4K run was a welcomed changed of pace after logging over 25Ks in the pool that week.
